ABF Tracking: Track Your ABF Freight Shipment by PRO Number
CARRIAGE TRACKING – All-in-One Courier Tracking Service

ABF Tracking
For ABF tracking, enter your 9-digit PRO number in the tracker above or on ArcBest’s shipment tracking page. You’ll find the PRO number on the bill of lading or in the shipper’s confirmation. ABF Freight is ArcBest’s less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier. You can reach customer service at (800) 610-5544.
Waiting on a pallet, a crate or a large piece of furniture shipped with ABF Freight? Freight tracking works a little differently from parcel tracking. You’ll usually track with a PRO number rather than a regular tracking code, and delivery is often scheduled by appointment
This guide explains how ABF tracking works, where to find your PRO number, what the shipment statuses mean, and what to expect when freight is delivered to a home or business.
What Is ABF Freight?
ABF Freight is the LTL (less-than-truckload) carrier of ArcBest, a logistics company headquartered in Fort Smith, Arkansas. According to ArcBest, ABF has been operating continuously since 1923 and is one of North America’s largest LTL carriers.
ABF serves around 51,000 communities in all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico through 239 service centers, and reaches Mexico through partner trucking companies. LTL means your shipment shares trailer space with freight from other customers, which keeps costs down for shipments too large for a parcel carrier but too small for a full truck
ABF Tracking: How to Track a Freight Shipment
ABF Tracking via Carriage Tracking
If you ship with several freight companies, Carriage Tracking lets you check them all in one place instead of logging into each carrier’s site.
ABF Tracking on the Official ArcBest Website
Business shippers with an ArcBest account can also track through the customer dashboard, or connect tracking to their own systems through EDI or API.
ABF Tracking Number (PRO Number)
In freight shipping, the main tracking number is called a PRO number. ABF PRO numbers are usually 9 digits long and numbers only.
Where to Find Your ABF PRO Number
If you’re the recipient and don’t have a number, ask the shipper. They booked the pickup and have all the references.

ABF Tracking Number Not Working?
ABF Tracking Statuses Explained
Status | What it means |
|---|---|
Pickup scheduled / Dispatched | A driver has been assigned to collect the freight. |
Picked up | The freight has been collected from the shipper. |
At origin service center | It’s at the local terminal and being loaded for linehaul. |
In transit | It’s moving between service centers on a linehaul trailer. |
At destination service center | It has reached the terminal closest to the delivery address. |
Delivery appointment scheduled | A delivery date and time window has been set with the recipient |
Out for delivery | It’s on a local truck heading to you. |
Delivered | The freight was signed for. A delivery receipt (proof of delivery) becomes available. |
Exception / Delayed | Something held it up, such as weather, a missing appointment, an address problem or a refused delivery. |
Freight often sits at a service center between legs. If your status hasn’t changed for a day or two, see what “arrived at linehaul office” means to understand the stops in the middle of a freight route.
ABF Freight Transit Times
Transit time depends on distance, lane and service level. Shipments between nearby service centers often deliver in one or two business days, while coast-to-coast LTL freight takes longer. ArcBest has a transit-time tool on its website that gives an estimate for your origin and destination ZIP codes. That’s more reliable than any general rule, because it reflects the actual route.
Holidays, bad weather and appointment scheduling can all add time, especially for residential deliveries.
Expecting ABF Freight at Your Home?
Residential freight isn’t left on your doorstep like a parcel. Expect the following:
ArcBest also runs U-Pack, a do-it-yourself household moving service, which is a separate booking from regular ABF freight.
ABF vs Other LTL Carriers
ABF competes with the other major US LTL networks, and many shippers split freight between them by lane. If your shipment went with a different carrier, you can follow it with Old Dominion, XPO tracking, Estes, R+L Carriers or TForce Freight. All of them track by PRO number in the same way.
Shipping freight that used to go with Yellow? Yellow (formerly YRC Freight) shut down in 2023, so much of that freight now moves with ABF and the carriers above.
ABF Freight Customer Service
Have your PRO number ready when you call. For billing, claims or reweigh questions, the shipper who booked the courier service is usually the account holder, so they may need to contact ABF on your behalf.
Understanding LTL Shipping
If you’re new to freight, LTL shipping works through a hub-and-spoke network. Freight is picked up, consolidated at a local service center, moved overnight on linehaul trailers between hubs, then delivered by a local truck. Every handoff creates a tracking scan, which is why ABF freight tracking shows terminal names rather than street-level locations.
